In 2010, Dr. Tahara opened Allegheny Vein & Vascular and became one of a growing number of vascular interventionalists across the country who recognized office-based endovascular labs (OBLs) as the evolutionary step in the treatment of vein and artery disease.
For more than a decade, Dr. Tahara has been particularly ardent about the proper treatment of venous disease, as well as limb preservation and the prevention of leg amputations. To accomplish this, Dr. Tahara has invested in state-of-the-art diagnostic and procedural equipment, as well as recruited a talented team of staff members who share his commitment to quality patient care.
Not only is AVV the regional leader in vascular care, but we have participated in groundbreaking national clinical trials for Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS). Dr. Tahara has also personally developed Near-Zero ™, an ultrasound-guided tibial artery access technique that reduces radiation exposure and complication rates.
Additionally, Dr. Tahara is now offering – as well as furthering the development of – a new venous angioplasty technique for Post-thrombotic Syndrome (originally developed by fellow pioneer and venous expert, Mark Garcia, MD FSIR) that gives hope to people living with the devastating after effects of blood clots.
